On the Pitty the front shape was quite difficult to press. The front often had distortions and therefore did not make it through the final inspection/quality control. The Pittys that fell through were then painted over with a hammer when assembled to conceal the distortions. That's why the hammer finishes always look a little different, it depends on whether the reason/original color was e.g. light blue, dark blue, green, etc. From that point of view, there was no "quality pitty" in Hammerschlag, but only as a "2nd choice"
